Experienced Business Litigators at Charles H. Torres, P.C. Handle Theft of Trade Secrets Claims
Our attorneys have extensive experience representing clients regarding claims of theft of trade secrets.
Theft of trade secrets, or trade secret misappropriation, involves one’s misuse or improper disclosure of exclusive business information (the trade secret) that the business has made an effort to keep a secret to any person or entity outside of the business.
A trade secret can be numerous different things. Colorado defines a trade secret as:
“the whole or any portion or phase of any scientific or technical information, design, process, procedure, formula, improvement, confidential business or financial information, listing of names, addresses, or telephone numbers, or other information relating to any business or profession which is secret and of value. To be a ‘trade secret’ the owner thereof must have taken measures to prevent the secret from becoming available to persons other than those selected by the owner to have access thereto for limited purposes.” See C.R.S. § 7-74-102.
Whether you allege another individual or entity has stolen information that would be considered a trade secret, or have been accused of stealing such information, it is important to have an experienced attorney on your side to protect your interests.
The statute of limitations limits the amount of time in which an action may be brought
If you or your business has suffered a theft of trade secrets, it is important to act as soon as possible. Failure to do so can prevent you from bringing your case, resulting in no damages relief for the theft you experienced. Contact an experienced attorney at the earliest possible time for the best opportunity for relief.
