After working as an assistant district attorney in Pueblo, Colorado, Mr. Torres became an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado, handling multiple complex white-collar criminal prosecutions. Mr. Torres then went into private practice undertaking various complicated civil cases while remaining involved in white-collar criminal defense and other criminal cases. With extensive trial experience, Mr. Torres started his own practice in 1989.

Mr. Torres has successfully litigated complex civil and criminal matters, in trials lasting weeks. He has also has multiple successful federal and state Appellate arguments. A few notable cases successfully tried by Mr. Torres include: patent litigation for businessperson Robert Aldridge, co-inventor of the detonator for the first atomic bomb; medical malpractice involving one of the first newborn heart transplants; litigation involving a Hispanic businessman who was wrongfully denied a beer distributorship from a large Colorado brewery; defended an individual charged in a $50 million HUD scheme; and successfully vindicating the rights of a developmentally disabled minor who was sexually assaulted by a popular minister after years of litigation and a heavily publicized, four week trial in Palm Beach, Florida. 

In addition to running his own law practice, Mr. Torres has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, teaching courses in Health Law in the Executive MBA Health Administration program. Mr. Torres has also given numerous presentations on areas of health law including a presentation on the prosecution of medical professionals at the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences in Palm Springs, CA as well as numerous presentations on behalf of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
